It seems like Facebook..or should we say Mark, takes the matter of negative public scrutiny very lightly. No!?..
Ok check this out: Facebook, which owns Instagram & WhatsApp has found itself once again under public woes as WhatsApp is testing out a new “Status” tab that allows you to share your images and videos to your contact list for a limited period of time.
The new beta test version gives users the option to scribble images and videos with the help of the pencil, as well as adding emoji and text. If you’re a Snapchat fan, all these new updates about to be launched on WhatsApp shouldn’t be new to you, as Snaps basically work the same way.
It all started with Instagramstories, which was a direct copy of Snapchatstories, next was “Messenger Day” within its messaging app, which works in similar fashion. Now this.
The new feature seems to replace the Contacts tab in WhatsApp’s top navigation menu.
The new Status bar is currently available on WhatsApp’s latest beta version (2.16.336), though it’s hidden from regular users. To use it, you have to do a search in the Settings menu.
As already stated, the feature is currently being tested, and once WhatsApp gets enough feedback to implement a few improvements, it will probably roll it out to users across the world. When exactly that will happen is anyone’s guess, but hopefully, it will be available soon. As always, we’ll keep you posted when we hear more.
