Well, Instagram seems to be testing a new livestreaming video feature in a new beta version of its app that’s presently undergoing tests. Reports coming in from a Russian news site states that a new “live” section under Stories will feature “popular live broadcasts”.
In view of the success of Facebook live video, one can safely say that it was only a matter of time before it was introduced to Instagram’s photo sharing community. Although Instagram received a lot of woes for blatantly ripping off Snapchat’s stories idea, livestreaming video certainly feels at home on Instagram.
In this new version launching soon, the Stories Icons now appear at the top of the Explore tab as well as the home screen. The first Stories icon in Explore, now features a “live” tag and takes you to a page titled “popular live broadcasts” which for now, is not functional.
In the mean time, a new “Go insta” button appears in the camera app which starts recording live video, along with a “Schedule” button in the top right corner. Facebook also has this scheduling option for its video streaming.
