Just as expected, Google took time out yesterday to unveil 2 new HTC-made smartphones called the “Pixel” and the “Pixel XL“
With a design that also seems to mimic the iPhone’s, Google’s duo Pixel phones are a Beauty really to behold. Coming in 3 awesome colour variants – “Very Silver, Quite Black and Really Blue” (odd names right?….lol). Their aluminium body finish with glass cover upfront and halfway out back primes it’s look as PURE PREMIUM quality.
Google’s Pixel phone features a 5in AMOLED 1080x1920p FullHD screen @441ppi , running on a 2.15GHz Quadcore Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 CPU. 4GB RAM is also under the hood, with 32/128GB ROM in support. The 12.3MP rear camera is flushed with the body of the phones and is based on Sony’s latest IMX378 sensors, while we have an 8MP selfie shooter upfront. Google fits a 2770mAh battery in here, with Android’s OS 7.1 running things. There’s also a USB Type-C port on both.
It’s fingerprint scanner called the Pixel Imprint also packs, other features like pulling down the notifications bar with a swipe in addition to unlocking the phones very speedily.
The Pixel XL on the other hand is the Bigger Boy of the 2, with a 5.5in AMOLED 1440x2560p QuadHD screen @534ppi. It sports the same memory, CPU & camera specifications as the Pixel phone. But it’s battery capacity is bumped up to 3450mAh
In the software end, Google steps on full throttle here by incorporating it’s new Google Assistant into every aspect and area of the phones. You will recall that Google’s Assistant debuted on the Google Allo messaging app and is indeed Google Now on steroids. In addition to being able to interact with it humanly, it can schedule text messages to family, schedule appointments and even make hotel reservations on your behalf.
The Google Pixel and Pixel XL phones would cost $650 & $770 respectively for the 32GB ROM option and an extra $100 each on top for the 128GB ROM options.
Both Pixel phones would be compatible with the new Daydream VR headset
