Superb news for Andromium (and for everyone too, trust me) as its funding campaign for The Superbook Laptop surpasses the $1Million mark on Kickstarter and brings the company closer to making The Superbook Laptop commercially available.
The Superbook Laptop is simply next level laptop computing that sees you turn your Android phone to a fully functional Laptop experience. The Superbook Laptop is just a laptop build that comes with a FullHD 1080p LCD screen, battery, keyboard & trackpad, but relies on the Android OS, apps and CPU capacity of your Android phone. This it does over a simple USB connection between the Android phone and Superbook.
The ability to turn your Android phone to a Laptop interface is made possible by the Andromium app (whose beta version is already in the Play Store) installed on your phone. The app brings within it, a ton of laptop compatible apps like a media player, word processing suites, etc you could use on the Superbook. However, this doesn’t restrict it from running other Android apps and games as well. It also employs the use of the WiFi, mobile data & Bluetooth connectivity of your Android phone.
The focus of the Superbook is to ensure you really don’t have to upgrade your laptop everytime to faster processing and more modern units. You simply achieve this by upgrading your Android phone and your Superbook “upgrades” automatically.
It’s expected to sell from a very reasonable price of $99 after commercial production and launch.
Let’s hope this really gets all the support it deserves.
