After months of speculation, Google has finally revealed the name of the next generation Android OS it’s readying for a likely live debut later this year.
The new Android OS that’s roaring to go would henceforth be known as the Android OS 7.0 “Nougat”. This falls in line with the series of desert names Google decided to adopt for all its Android OS iterations (OS 1.5 – Cupcake, OS 1.6 – Donut, OS 2.0-2.1 – Eclair, OS 2.2 – Froyo, OS 2.3 – Gingerbread, OS 3. – Honeycomb, OS 4.0 – Ice Cream Sandwich, OS 4.1-4.3 – Jelly Bean, OS 4.4 – Kitkat, OS 5.0 – Lollipop, OS 6.0 – Marshmallow, OS 7.0 – Nougat)
• Quicker updates from Google with less delays by the phone manufacturers
• Multi-window support, which would see two apps run on the same screen side by side.
• Support for replies to notifications directly as they pop up on top.
• A new Doze feature that practically “freezes” all apps in the background from network interactions so as to save power.
More news regarding the flexibility of this new OS are expected all up till it goes live soon
