Take a closer look at the picture above. You just probably might be staring at the next smartphone from BlackBerry due out this month (going by hints by John Chen recently). Cool right? Ok wait! Isn’t that an Alcatel Idol 4? How could that possibly be the next BlackBerry?
Well, WiFi Alliance just certified a mystery smartphone with model name given as – DTEK 50, with TCL’s phone listed with a model number STH100-2 as well. What’s particularly interesting about this is that both model numbers as stated above, relate to BlackBerry one way or the other. While the DTEK 50 relates to the Privacy suite of the BlackBerry Priv, the STH100-2 tallies with BlackBerry’s trend of phone listings for one certification or the other. A clear example was the number STV100-1 which eventually was the Priv. This therefore probably hints at the possibility of the mystery handset being the BlackBerry ‘Hamburg’.
While we wait to see whether this is what would be released as the BlackBerry Hamburg, the TCL involvement here isn’t an entirely new development as BlackBerry had hinted at outsourcing the production of future smartphones but would be under its brand name and logo.
What do you guys think?…
