It might interest you to know that popular watch makers – Swatch, cannot boast of a SOLID smartwatch capable of upstaging the Apple Watch or Samsung’s Gear S line of watches. Surprising right? Especially considering its long years and experience gathered in this line.
This is not to say they haven’t produced any smartwatches in the past. In 2015, it unveiled 2 smartwatches – the Bellamy & the Touch One Zero but failed in the market due to their niche focus on payments and volleyball. I mean who does that?
Well, seems they just might be having a rethink of their smartwatch game and enter the market with a PROPER smartwatch this time around. Hot in the news in this respect is a collaborative effort with Tissot.
The said watch, likely due for release this year, would be compatible with both Android phones and iPhones and would last up to a year on a single charge. (Now we’re talking). In addition to having the heart monitoring and steps taken sensors onboard, the watch hands would be able to point directions while using the map. (Impressive)
Though no date has been given for the release, its expected to see a summer release this year with an expected 20,000 – 40,000 units to be made for sale (They’re still playig safe… sigh)
You can expect the swatch premium finish in this one.
We wait to see…
