As the official launch date of Samsung’s latest phablet inches closer, the media is indeed awash with a lot of leaks and information regarding the new Note refresh. Here’s a quick run down of what we’ve gathered so far about the coming Note from Samsung:
The expected new Note is rumoured to be called the Note 7 to fall in line with the S-series. Some quarters believe that this might refer to the edge variant that will have dual curved edge screens while the regular screened variant will be known as the Note 6.
B. Size & Display:
It’s expected to feature a 5.8in screen , with a rumoured edge variant. The resolution would likely be the QuadHD 1440x2560p resolution. But it’s also been shared that Samsung might actually use this opportunity to showcase its very 1st smartphone/phablet with a 4K resolution.
The Note 7 would come with 2 CPU variants. One with the Samsung owned Exynos CPU and a new Qualcomm Snapdragon 823/830 CPU.
A 6GB RAM is expected onboard. But the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 823/830 CPU is believed to support up to 8GB RAM. It would also likely come with a base 32GB ROM, with 64GB & 128GB ROM variants also. The microSD card slot would also allow for memory expansion up to 256GB.
Samsung is expected to replicate its newest dual pixel 12MP camera on the Note 7, which first debuted on the S7 & S7 edge. However some leaks suggest a possible dual camera setup produced by Semco (Samsung’s Motors division).
The S Pen remains the standout feature of the Note Series and the Note 7 won’t be an exception. The S Pen, which has been getting better since the inception of the note series , is expected to indeed come with new features and a better outlook altogether. One patent that leaked earlier this year suggests that the S Pen for the Note 7 would likely be foldable and also function as a kickstand.
