News making the rounds suggest that BlackBerry may have “lost” one of its Biggest users in person of the US President, Barack Obama.
The US President is believed to have been made to drop his longtime, highly secured BlackBerry for a.. wait for it….. a Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) classified & certified…..
Ok that almost got me rolling laughing because why would the supposed No.1 citizen in the World be made to use an almost 3 year old phone? Even Obama doesn’t seem “pleased” as he complained that it wasn’t that smart. In his words – “For security reasons, this is a great phone, state of the art… but it doesn’t take pictures, you can’t text, the phone doesn’t work, you can’t play music on it. ….Basically, it’s like one of those phones you’d give to a three-year old”.
This move seems to fall into line with certification, encryption & security tests carried out on the Galaxy S4 by DISA and The Pentagon in 2014 in readiness for adoption by some senior US Government officials.
These hardened Galaxy S4 phones are only authorised to download a limited number of certified apps from a DISA App Store.
John Kerry is reported to have been the first to have tested the hardened Galaxy S4 back then.
